Two weeks removed from his loss at UFC 229, Conor McGregor offered a critical look at his four-round affair with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
McGregor took to Instagram early Tuesday morning to provide a round-by-round breakdown on how he would've scored the fight.
McGregor wrote that his lightweight foe may have won Round 1 from a "sports standpoint," but the Irishman deserved the round "from a fight standpoint."
"Actual shots landed and a willingness to engage. Straight left early. Knee to the head on the low shot. Elbows in any and all tie up scenarios. Opponent just holding the legs against the fence for almost the entire round," he wrote.
McGregor conceded Nurmagomedov won the second round and admitted he gave Khabib's standup "no respect in preparation."
"I also gave my attacking grappling no respect. (Too) defense minded. Lessons. Listen to nobody but yourself on your skill set," he said.
McGregor continued that he bounced back from "the worst round of my fighting career" to win Round 3, but his recovery failed him in Round 4.
"I made a critical error of abandoning my over hook at this crucial time, exposing the back, and I end up beaten fair and square. What can I say? It was a great fight and it was my pleasure. I will be back with my confidence high. Fully prepared," he wrote.
Finally, McGregor said if he doesn't earn an immediate rematch, he'll simply fight the next in line.
"It's all me always, anyway," he said. "See you soon my fighting fans I love you all."
