Dariush draws newcomer Hernandez at UFC 222 with Green injured
Beneil Dariush's spot on UFC 222 has been salvaged.
With original opponent Bobby Green recently withdrawing due to injury, Dariush will now welcome Alexander Hernandez to the Octagon for a lightweight tilt on March 3 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the promotion announced Friday.
The 28-year-old Dariush will look to get back in the win column after coming up short in two fights last year, suffering a brutal KO courtesy of Edson Barboza in March before fighting Evan Dunham to a majority draw at UFC 216 in October. He returns to the site of his dance with the latter sporting a promotional slate of 8-3-1.
Hernandez, 25, has competed under the RFA and LFA banners and won all but one of his nine professional fights. He was last seen stopping Derrick Adkins by third-round knockout at LFA 27 in November.
UFC 222 will see Cris Cyborg defend her featherweight crown against former Invicta FC bantamweight queen Yana Kunitskaya in the main event, with Frankie Edgar and Brian Ortega clashing in the featherweight co-headliner.
