De Randamie gets 'green light' from doctor following hand surgery

Germaine de Randamie is one step closer to returning to action.

The former UFC women's featherweight champ revealed on Instagram this past weekend she's been cleared to resume training after successfully undergoing hand surgery in September.

"Got the best news today (which feels like it’s been forever)!! Got green light from my doctor to start training again," de Randamie wrote.

The Dutchwoman had announced she'd been dealing with the lingering injury moments after besting Holly Holm to win the crown at UFC 208 - one of two issues that kept her from defending it, the other her refusal to fight incumbent champion Cris Cyborg.

De Randamie was booked to face Marion Reneau in her home country last month in what would have marked her return to 135 pounds after getting stripped of the featherweight title, but pulled out during fight week. Both she and Reneau have expressed interest in re-booking the matchup.
