Flyweights Calderwood, Rawlings to face off at UFC Fight Night 121
The first UFC women's flyweight champion will come from this year's finale of "The Ultimate Fighter" in December, but the promotion's newest division is picking up momentum in the meantime.
Joanne Calderwood and Bec Rawlings, two strawweights who pushed for the creation of a flyweight division, will battle in a 125-pound fight at UFC Fight Night 121 on Nov. 19 in Sydney, Australia, the UFC announced Wednesday.
Calderwood is coming off back-to-back losses which dropped her out of strawweight title contention. Meanwhile, Rawlings has put together her own two-fight losing streak, including a loss to Paige VanZant.
Calderwood has previously fought at 125 pounds, and Rawling missed weight before her loss to Tecia Torres in January.
UFC Fight Night 121 will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Mark Hunt and Marcin Tybura.
