Facing suspension, Lesnar still open to UFC return
Brock Lesnar isn't letting recent legal obstacles deter him from returning to the UFC.
After defeating Mark Hunt by unanimous decision at UFC 200, Lesnar was temporarily suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) in relation to two failed drug tests. The WWE Superstar reportedly tested positive for estrogen blockers, typically used when coming off a cycle of steroid use. The potential violation prompted his recent removal from the UFC divisional rankings.
While Lesnar recognizes the uphill battle he'd face should he decide to return to the Octagon, he isn't quite turning the page on his mixed martial arts career.
"I got a few challenges to overcome before I can get there but I don't know," Lesnar told TMZ. "For right now, I'm going to focus on my WWE career. I wanted to step back in the Octagon and avenge my loss against diverticulitis."
Lesnar, who competed Sunday at WWE SummerSlam, was twice struck with diverticulitis during his first run on the UFC roster, suffering two year-long layoffs as a result. A USADA suspension could put him on the shelf for another two years.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission is set to convene over Lesnar's case Tuesday. The former UFC heavyweight champ could be handed another suspension by the commission until a hearing is scheduled.
