Vancouver Whitecaps re-sign Pa-Modou Kah to 1-year extension
Hours before potentially losing Pa-Modou Kah in the MLS Re-Entry Draft, the Vancouver Whitecaps announced a one-year contract extension with the Gambian central defender.
As a result, Kah is no longer eligible for selection in the MLS Re-Entry Draft.
"We’re very pleased to bring Pa back," head coach Carl Robinson said in a statement. "The experience and mentorship he provides is of great value to our young group of players. He is a natural leader both on and off the field."
Kah, 35, appeared in 26 matches last season for the Whitecaps, where he and central defensive partner Kendall Waston helped shore up the team's back line. Together, they managed to produce 13 clean sheets in 2015, and Kah led the team in scoring defenders, heading home three times.
The MLS Re-Entry Draft is set for later today. FC Dallas currently has the first pick after trading general allocation money and the 17th pick to the Chicago Fire.
