Report: MetLife Stadium to host 2016 Copa America Centenario

New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, home of the NFL's New York Giants and New York Jets, will stage next summer's Copa America Centenario, according to Doug McIntyre of ESPN FC.
California's Rose Bowl, which hosted the 1994 World Cup Final, was the initial frontrunner to host the one-off tournament between national teams from the Americas, but the MetLife Stadium's plush facilities appear to have trumped its older competitor.
Despite boasting 10,000 additional seats, the Rose Bowl lost points for being situated in a smaller media market.
The artificial turf at MetLife can be replaced with temporary grass for the event.
The 16-team competition begins next June, and will take place in 12 cities across the United States.
