He is set to take over from interim manager Ricardo Ferretti, who stepped into the role after former manager Miguel Herrera was fired for fighting with a reporter in an airport.
The 53-year-old has a few ties to CONCACAF, having managed Mexican outfit Puebla, as well as a pair of MLS clubs in the Chicago Fire and the New York Red Bulls.
Osorio, who has reportedly been toying with the idea of joining El Tri for some time, would take over the position ahead of Mexico's World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and El Salvador in November.
