Frank Lampard not included in New York City FC's squad to play LA Galaxy
It was a match billed as Steven Gerrard vs. Frank Lampard as the LA Galaxy prepared to host New York City FC on Sunday under the California sun at the StubHub Center.
But that highly anticipated battle has fizzled before it could start: NYCFC head coach Jason Kreis left Lampard out of the team entirely, opting to go with Kwadwo Poku in midfield instead of the former Chelsea man.
Lampard's been dealing with an ongoing quad issue and has missed all but 107 collective minutes over the last six weeks.
Not only did Lampard fail to make the starting XI, but he was left off the bench as well, even though he was spotted reuniting with his England teammate before the match. Gerrard will have to settle for taking on David Villa and Andrea Pirlo instead.
