D.C. United's Paul Arriola will miss a significant chunk of the upcoming MLS campaign after suffering an ACL injury in Saturday's preseason friendly against Orlando City.
The midfielder, who started the last three matches for the United States men's national team, took to Twitter on Monday to confirm the news of his serious knee injury.
Arriola, 25, made 29 regular season appearances for D.C. United in 2019 and is signed to a Designated Player contract. His absence will add to concerns that head coach Ben Olsen is light on numbers heading into the new term.
