Report: NYCFC planning for $700M, 26,000-seat stadium in the Bronx
New York City FC is planning to move out of Yankee Stadium by 2022 after submitting a $700-million joint-development proposal called "Harlem River Yards" to the city, which would see a 26,000-seat stadium built on the South Bronx waterfront, reports ESPN FC by way of New York YIMBY.
The proposed venture, submitted between NYCFC, real estate developers Related, and investment companies Somerset Partners, would have the group develop a 12.8-acre parcel of land owned by the state Department of Transportation, though bidding for the site hasn't officially opened yet.

The development plan also includes a 25,000-square foot medical facility and 550 "affordable and workforce" apartments, while Somerset is planning to build in the surrounding area, with over 1,000 "market-rate" residential units, retail space, and community and park space.
The New York-based MLS club declined to comment on the report, telling ESPN FC, "NYCFC is in active pursuit of a new home and we are looking at a number of possible locations."
