Giovinco returns to starting lineup after 4-match injury layoff

Toronto FC welcomed back talismanic attacker Sebastian Giovinco to its initial XI after the Atomic Ant endured a four-match layoff upon sustaining a quad injury against San Jose back in September.

Giovinco was named alongside Jozy Altidore up top alongside the rest of head coach Greg Vanney's preferred lineup for the final home match of the season against the Montreal Impact.

As such, the influential Italian will be on the field to celebrate the passing of the MLS Supporters' Shield, which the Reds secured in a 4-2 win over the New York Red Bulls on Sept. 30.

Giovinco and Altidore both missed a 4-0 win over the LA Galaxy, as well as a 5-3 loss to the Impact and a 2-1 loss to the New England Revolution as they worked to recover in time for the MLS post-season.

Altidore returned in time for the Red Bulls tilt, but Giovinco, who has 15 goals and six assists over 23 league appearances this year, now rejoins his strike partner with two matches left in the regular season.
