Jackson-Hamel extends Impact stay

Montreal Impact and Canadian international forward Anthony Jackson-Hamel has agreed to new terms with the club, putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.

The Impact announced the deal with a statement on its website Thursday, adding that the Quebec City-born 24-year-old's contract features a club option for the 2020 campaign.

"I am very happy to continue my career with the Impact and to help the club reach its goals," Jackson-Hamel said. "I am also very happy to be a model for young players from Quebec. It is with great pride that I will continue to sweat in my city's jersey."

The seventh Impact academy product to sign professional terms with the club, Jackson-Hamel is second on the team with seven tallies this season to go with a goal and an assist in the Canadian Championships.

After languishing on the fringes of Mauro Biello's first team the last three campaigns, Jackson-Hamel has made 15 appearances this year amid a rise for club that mirrors his emergence for country. With Canada, Jackson-Hamel has earned eight caps since his national team debut against Mauritania in October 2016, bagging his first goal in January versus Bermuda.
