'Footy McFooty Face' leads polls in San Diego MLS name vote
San Diego's expansion bid into Major League Soccer might be marred from its title page alone as fans of the organization have been allowed a ballot and a say in the prospective team's name ... and "Footy McFooty Face" is currently leading the pack.
The Facebook vote features a number of generic-sounding names such as San Diego City FC, San Diego Soccer Club, and San Diego United, with a few unconventional options like the San Diego Bad Hombres, the San Diego Riptide or, as most voters evidently liked, Footy McFooty Face.
In fact, Footy McFooty Face has over 3,300 votes to Bad Hombres' roughly 500 votes, making it the runaway favorite for potential fans of this MLS expansion hopeful.
The name, if you'll remember, is a direct homage to a British naval poll that saw "Boaty McBoatface" win a poll to name a polar research vessel last year.
