Watch: Rimando denies Giovinco with smart penalty save
Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports
Toronto FC's penalty woes have rolled over into the 2017 season, with Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando denying Sebastian Giovinco from the spot in the first half.
Rimando first attempted to distract the Atomic Ant by shouting at the referee for several minutes in the buildup to the spot kick. It appears to have worked, with Giovinco opting to shoot to his preferred left. The RSL netminder made an easy save, and the two teams went into the locker rooms tied 0-0 at halftime.
It's only Giovinco's second missed penalty during his time with Toronto FC.
