Montreal acquires Duvall from Minnesota in trade for Venegas
The Montreal Impact announced Tuesday the club has acquired full-back Chris Duvall and general allocation money from Minnesota United in exchange for attacking midfielder Johan Venegas.
Duvall was selected No. 2 overall by Minnesota out of the New York Red Bulls in Tuesday's Expansion Draft and has been immediately swapped to Montreal in exchange for Costa Rican winger Venegas.
He joins a Montreal team needing to reinforce its full-back ranks having lost Donny Toia to Atlanta United with the first pick in the Expansion Draft, right before Duvall was selected by Minnesota.
The Loons will be pleased with their offensive pickup, however, as Venegas was protected by Montreal. He'll look to earn a starting role having been limited to 39 appearances over the last two seasons with the Impact.
