New England Revolution exercise contract options on 12 players

The New England Revolution announced Monday the club has exercised contract options on a number of players, opting to bring back 12 of the team's core group while cutting both Jordan McCrary and Steve Neumann.
The following players were retained in Jay Heaps' side:
- Goalkeepers: Brad Knighton, Matt Turner, Cody Cropper
- Defenders: Andrew Farrell, Chris Tierney, Je-Vaughn Watson, London Woodberry, Donnie Smith
- Midfielders: Zachary Herivaux
- Forwards: Juan Agudelo, Teal Bunbury, Femi Hollinger-Janzen
They return for the 2017 season alongside teammates Scott Caldwell, Diego Fagundez, Kei Kamara, Xavier Kouassi, Lee Nguyen, Kelyn Rowe, and Bobby Shuttleworth, who are all under contract for next year.
Defenders Darrius Barnes and Jose Goncalves and midfielders Gershon Koffie and Daigo Kobayashi are all out of contract on Dec. 31.
The club has until Dec. 14 to re-sign any Re-Entry Draft-eligible players.
