Arena: Beckham can still do things no other player can
David Beckham may be long removed from playing in Major League Soccer but LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena still sees plenty of quality from the now-retired 41-year-old.
The Galaxy welcomed Beckham to training this week and Arena was left rather impressed with the former England captain once again.
"It’s like having a gunslinger come in for a couple of days," Arena said, as quoted by the club's official website. "He can do things still that no other players can do. He’s an extremely talented guy."
While Arena had no problem praising his former star midfielder, he put his (or, at least, the club's) money where his mouth is when the prospect of re-signing Beckham came up.
"If he still wanted to play, he could be useful to someone in our league," Arena admitted. "If he didn't have other options in his life, he could still play in this league.
"I'd offer him a minimum contract any day of the week."
