Red Bulls sign Daniel Royer from FC Midtjylland
The New York Red Bulls have signed Austrian winger Daniel Royer from Danish outfit FC Midtjylland, the club announced Wednesday, though specific terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Royer, 26, made 36 appearances for Midtjylland, scoring two goals and recording three assists. He joins the Red Bulls to bolster the team's width after the club traded winger Lloyd Sam to D.C. United earlier in the summer window.
"We're pleased to add Daniel to our team," Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis said in a statement. "He's a talented player that is in the prime of his career. His ability to play different positions in the midfield gives us both quality and depth.
"Daniel is a very intelligent and mature young man, and we look forward to him joining the club."
Royer is set to join the club pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and P-1 visa and the Red Bulls did not need to acquire his discovery rights prior to signing the six-time capped Austria international.
