Report: Toronto FC midfielder Cheyrou ruled out 3-5 weeks with quad strain
Toronto FC midfielder Benoit Cheyrou will reportedly miss three-to-five weeks of action after straining his quadriceps muscle in training last week, according to John Molinaro of Sportsnet.
The 35-year-old Frenchman - dropped this season in favor of his Canadian counterpart Will Johnson - is currently undergoing rehab and treatment for the injury away from the rest of the team.
"They gave us a window of three-to-five weeks. We'll start at five and work our way back as he starts to get better," TFC head coach Greg Vanney told reporters, according to Molinaro. "We don't really know; it's still a little bit early to tell how long exactly it's going to be."
Cheyrou has started two matches this season for the Reds as they embark on an eight-game road trip to start the 2016 campaign. Last season, the former Marseille mainstay made 28 appearances, scoring one goal and recording seven assists.
