Report: Nationals' Arroyo suffers partial labrum tear
Once heralded as one of the most durable players in the majors, Bronson Arroyo's career is in jeopardy after reportedly suffering another injury.
The Washington Nationals right-hander suffered an 80-percent tear of his labrum, according to Peter Gammons of Gammons Daily, likely ending his comeback bid.
Arroyo hasn't pitched in the majors since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2014. The 39-year-old agreed to a minor-league deal with the Nationals this winter with a shot at landing the fifth spot in the rotation.
He pitched well this spring, allowing two runs off four hits in five innings while striking out three.
The 15-year veteran went the first 14 seasons of his career without landing on the disabled list and averaged 207 innings over a 10-year span from 2004-2013.
