Cain (cyst) had the stitches removed from his arm Thursday and will resume throwing in the coming days, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

Analysis:

Cain recently had a cyst removed from his pitching arm and had been shut down in the meantime, but he got the stitches out Thursday and is set to get back on the mound shortly. His nearly two-week absence could set him back in the competition for the few available spots in the back end of the Giants' rotation given that he'll likely have to gradually ramp up his activity with bullpen sessions before facing live batters.
