Blue Jays tab Gil Kim as director of player development
The Toronto Blue Jays' staffing overhaul continued Wednesday, one day after ex-general manager Alex Anthopoulos was introduced as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers' front office, with the club naming Gil Kim as their new director of player development.
The 34-year-old spent the last seven seasons with the Texas Rangers following a six-year playing career, and most recently served as director of international scouting. Throughout his tenure with Texas, Kim also worked at the club's complex in the Dominican Republic and served as a scout in Latin America.
Kim, a Vanderbilt product, will now be responsible for overseeing Toronto's player development staff in their efforts to help each player within the organization realize their developmental goals.
Tony LaCava had served as director of player development under Anthopoulos, but after briefly holding the title of interim general manager following Anthopoulos' departure, was named senior vice president of baseball operations and assistant GM.
