Justin Ruggiano is on his way back to the American League West.
The 33-year-old outfielder agreed to a one-year, $1.65-million deal with the Texas Rangers.
Ruggiano split last season between the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers. In 57 games, he slashed .248/.333/.472 with six home runs, eight doubles, and five stolen bases, while appearing at all three outfield positions.
The right-handed hitter struggled mightily against right-handed pitching last year, hitting .143/.265/.262/. with one home run in 49 plate appearances, compared to .301/.370/.578 with five home runs in 92 plate appearances against lefties.
Ruggiano will likely head into spring training as the Rangers' fourth outfielder.
