The Chicago Cubs reportedly signed free-agent outfielder Jason Heyward to an eight-year, $184-million deal Friday, pulling him away from their division rival St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central.
With the announcement of the reported agreement, the Cubs' youthful core unleashed their excitement on social media.
Along with Heyward, general manager Jed Hoyer and club president Theo Epstein have also landed super utility man Ben Zobrist and right-hander John Lackey via free agency.
The Cubs finished 2015 with a 97-65 regular season record en route to an appearance in the NL championship series.
