Miguel Vargas may be on his way to the United States.
Vargas, one of Cuba's top prospects, has defected with his father Lazaro, reports MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez.
The younger Vargas, who turned 16 on Tuesday, is looking for a major-league deal.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect played both first and third base in Cuba.
He hit .382 with two home runs and 29 RBIs in 127 games for Havana's 15-and-under club in 2014.
Miguel also hit .297 with eight doubles and two triples for Havana in 2013 as a 13-year-old.
