White Sox fire bench coach Mark Parent

With three games left in the regular season, the Chicago White Sox have fired bench coach Mark Parent - who has held that position with the team since 2011.
"I'm accountable for what I had to do," said Parent, who admitted he found out he was relieved of his duties after Thursday's game. "I thought I did pretty good at this. If it wasn't enough, fine."
Parent will not be on the bench for the White Sox's season-ending three-game set hosting the Detroit Tigers. The 54-year-old had a 13-year major-league playing career as a catcher ending in 1998 and began coaching in 2000.
