Cubs agree to minor-league deal with Bonifacio

Veteran utilityman Emilio Bonifacio is sticking around the Windy City.

Following his release from the Chicago White Sox last week, the 30-year-old agreed to a minor-league deal with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Bonifacio struggled on the city's south side this season, hitting .167/.198/.192 with two doubles and 27 strikeouts in 47 games.

Having played every position on the diamond other than first base and catcher over the past two seasons, Bonifacio offers plenty of defensive versatility.

The nine-year veteran enjoyed one of his most productive seasons in 2014, hitting .259/.305/.345 with three home runs, 17 doubles, and 26 stolen bases across 110 games between the Cubs and Atlanta Braves.
