Mike Leake was cruising in his San Francisco Giants debut, until he ran into Josh Hamilton in the sixth inning Sunday.
The Texas Rangers slugger scorched the right-hander for a two-run shot, which ended up being the game winner, into the right-field stands at Globe Life Park in Arlington to give Texas a 2-0 lead.
Leake, acquired from the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday for a pair of minor leaguers, was touched up for two runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings of work. He struck out five and walked a pair on 93 pitches, but took the loss in the 2-1 defeat.
Leake won his previous four starts for the Reds, allowing only two earned runs over 30 innings pitched.
