Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis may be on his way to the disabled list, but manager Terry Francona wants to get a clearer picture before the team makes a decision.

Francona's going to talk things over with general manager Chris Antonetti and the team's medical staff first, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian.

"We'll just kind of put our heads together and see what we want to do about it," Francona said. "We want to make good decisions for him. So, we'll kind of get through today, let him also kind of digest it a little bit, and we'll talk more later and then see how we want to go about this."

The two-time All-Star, who leads American League second basemen in batting average at .326, had an MRI on his right shoulder Sunday, but the team hasn't disclosed the results.

The sore shoulder will keep Kipnis out of Cleveland's lineup against the Oakland Athletics on Sunday. Mike Aviles will replace him at second base.
