The Boston Red Sox recalled outfielder Rusney Castillo from Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday.

"We want to see him continue to get comfortable and acclimated at the major league level," general manager Ben Cherington told reporters.

Castillo takes Shane Victorino's spot on the 25-man roster after the Red Sox traded the veteran outfielder to the Los Angeles Angels.

Castillo, 28, has bounced between the major and minor leagues this season. In 40 games in Triple-A, he's hitting .282/.337/.385 with three home runs and 10 stolen bases. However, he's struggled at the major-league level, slashing .230/260/.284 with one home run and 15 strikeouts in 26 games.
