Royals' Hosmer, Escobar leave game vs. Athletics with injuries

A pair of Kansas City Royals players have succumbed to injuries Sunday afternoon.
First baseman Eric Hosmer and shortstop Alcides Escobar have left the game with the Oakland Athletics in the eighth inning.
Hosmer, who jammed his left ring finger when he slid into second base in Saturday's game, was serving as the designated hitter rather than playing first due to additional discomfort, but aggravated the injury regardless.
Escobar was forced out due to a right index finger split nail-bed.
Hosmer will likely receive Monday off to rest the injury, according to manager Ned Yost. Escobar, however, is expected to play in the series opener with the Houston Astros.
