Maikel Franco lifts Phillies past Yankees with second straight 5-RBI game: 'I'm just locked in right now'
Maikel Franco continues to inspire faith in the future of the Philadelphia Phillies.
"I'm just like locked in right now and I'm just in a good moment," Franco told MLB.com's Todd Zolecki after Tuesday's magical night in the Bronx. "I see a lot of good pitches to hit, and that's what's happening right now."
Franco, who was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley only five weeks ago, continued his torrid stretch at the plate Tuesday night against the New York Yankees, going 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and a home run while driving in five runs for the second time in as many nights.
After crushing a three-run blast off Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia in the fourth inning, his 10th homer of the campaign, the 22-year-old third baseman broke a 6-6 tie with a two-run double in the top of the ninth, leading his team to an eventual 11-6 victory.
"I'm just in a great moment right now," he said. "I want to preserve the moment. I want to have fun."
Not only did Franco record his fifth straight multi-hit game Tuesday in New York, but he also became just the third rookie ever - and the first in Phillies history - to drive in five runs in consecutive contests.
