Alex Rodriguez moved one hit closer to history Saturday.

With his two-run blast in a 9-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, A-Rod brought himself within striking distance of the illustrious 3,000-hit club.

In the process, the New York Yankees slugger surpassed 2,000 career RBIs, leaving only Hank Aaron ahead of him on the list with 2,297.

Currently at 2,995 hits, reaching the 3,000-hit plateau would put Rodriguez in a tie with Pittsburgh Pirates legend Roberto Clemente.
