Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Charlie Morton (hip) was activated from the 15-day DL and will start Monday against the Miami Marlins.

Analysis:

Morton struggled throughout spring training after undergoing hip surgery late last season, but he convinced the Pirates he's good to go by tossing 6.1 innings of two-run ball with nine strikeouts in a start for Triple-A Indianapolis last week. He did walk four in that outing, but Morton had a good deal of success against Miami last season (two runs in 14 innings) and the Marlins have struggled to score runs this month (13th in NL).
