Jose Bautista: (Shoulder) Out Sunday After Cortisone Shot
Updating a previous report, Bautista is being held out of Sunday's game against the Mariners after receiving a cortisone shot in his injured shoulder, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis:
Bautista began throwing again last week as he attempts to return to the outfield, but after noticing minimal progress in that regard, the Blue Jays elected to give him the shot. It typically takes 48-to-72 hours for the shot to take effect, so expect Bautista to be on the bench for Monday's series opener against the White Sox as well. The Blue Jays slugger should be ready to resume designated hitter duties at some point during the series, but it's not clear when he might be ready to play the outfield again.
