Heyward is not in the lineup Saturday against the Royals.
Analysis:
Following a 0-for-4 showing in Friday's loss, Heyward is now batting .238/.293/.377 in 164 plate appearances this season, and he will sit Saturday against right-hander Edison Volquez. Most of Heyward's struggles have come against right-handed pitching -- he has a .922 OPS against lefties -- but manager Mike Matheny may look to play the matchups more in right field moving forward with Randal Grichuk batting .286 (8-for-28, six XBH) since his recall.
