Blue Jays' Bautista remains out with shoulder strain, not expected to need DL stint
Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Baltimore Orioles with a right shoulder strain.
The five-time All-Star also sat out Wednesday's 4-2 win after aggravating his sore shoulder the night before. Bautista, who has been battling a shoulder issue for the last week, tweaked it further when he attempted to throw out Delmon Young at first base on a ball hit to right field in what was a heated game between the division rivals.
Toronto manager John Gibbons said Wednesday that a trip to the disabled list was a possibility, but not likely.
The Blue Jays begin a 10-game, three-city road trip against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday.
Bautista is hitting .149/.322/.426 with four homers and 10 RBIs.
