Somebody is lying.
A textgate scandal is emerging between Oakland Athletics third baseman Brett Lawrie and Kansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar, one night after Lawrie executed a controversial takeout slide that injured Escobar.
Lawrie says he reached out to apologize to Escobar for giving him a left knee sprain on the play, and provided proof to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser.
Lawrie elaborated on the alleged text exchange: "He (Escobar) messaged me back and didn't really seem to care about my apology to him ... He thought I did it on purpose."
Escobar, however, is denying he received a text from Lawrie to begin with.
Here's the play that resulted in benches clearing, if you didn't see it Friday night, or need a refresher:

Don't be surprised if Kansas City pitchers make Lawrie feel the pain on Saturday night.
