The Los Angeles Dodgers added pitching depth Monday by signing right-hander Freddy Garcia to a minor-league contract.
Garcia, who spent the 2014 season in Taiwan, hasn't pitched in the majors since 2013 when he split time with the Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles. The 38-year-old is expected to report to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he'll be looked upon to share his veteran experience with the Dodgers' young pitching staff.
The two-time All-Star averaged over 200 innings per season from 1999-2006 with the Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox. He's played for seven different teams during his 15-year career, owning a 4.15 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 357 starts.
