Outfielder Nate Schierholtz was released by the Texas Rangers on Saturday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Analysis:
Upon learning that he would not make the major league roster out of camp, Schierholtz seemingly asked out of his minor league deal, and the Rangers obliged. The 31-year-old Schierholtz struggled in Cactus League play this spring, going 9-for-34 with seven strikeouts, two walks and zero extra-base hits.
