The Texas Rangers added some bullpen depth by acquiring left-handed reliever Sam Freeman from the St. Louis Cardinals for a player to be named later or cash.
"He's got a good arm and the acquisition price was right," general manager Jon Daniels told Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. "We'll bring him in here and give him an opportunity."
Freeman had spent his entire three-year career with the Cardinals, posting a 3.33 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 81 appearances.
The 27-year-old split last season between the majors and Triple-A, fashioning a 2.61 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 38 innings with St. Louis.
