MLB releases international bonus pools for 2015-2016
Major League Baseball clubs eager to add young talent from outside the United States recently discovered exactly how much they can spend on international amateurs throughout the 2015-2016 signing period.
Baseball America's Ben Badler provided the international bonus pools for all 30 teams Thursday, the allotments based on reverse winning percentage from the 2014 season.
Though the Arizona Diamondbacks were granted the largest bonus pool in the league, the club is not allowed to sign any international amateur for more than $300,000 as a penalty for exceeding their allotment by more than 15 percent for the 2014-2015 signing period.
Yoan Moncada established a new record for international prospects earlier this week when he received a reported $31.5-million signing bonus from the Boston Red Sox - a commitment that will also prohibit the club from signing any international amateur for more than $300,000 when the new signing period begins July 2.
