Wisler will compete for the fifth spot in the Padres' rotation along with Brandon Morrow, Odrisamer Despaigne, and Robbie Erlin, Denis Lin of the San Diego Union Tribune reports.
Analysis:
Wisler is a 22-year-old right hander who spent last season at Double-A and Triple-A. He had some trouble adjusting to Triple-A competition in 2014, posting a 5.01 ERA and 1.5 HR/9 rate over 22 starts for the El Paso Chihuahuas of the Pacific Coast League. If Wisler is unable to win the fifth spot, he'll likely start the season at Triple-A.
