The St. Louis Cardinals avoided arbitration with outfielder Peter Bourjos on Thursday, reportedly agreeing to a one-year, $1.65-million deal.
Acquired from the Los Angeles Angels prior to last season, the 27-year-old appeared in 119 games in 2014, hitting a disappointing .231/.294/.348 with four home runs and nine stolen bases.
With Jon Jay expected to be healthy to start the season following wrist surgery and the acquisition of Jason Heyward, Bourjos is likely to begin the season coming off the bench in St. Louis.
