The Chicago White Sox avoided arbitration with right-hander Hector Noesi on Thursday, agreeing to a one-year, $1.95-million deal.
Selected off waivers from the Texas Rangers in April, Noesi went 8-11 in 27 starts for the White Sox last season while posting a 4.39 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 166 innings.
Noesi, who is expected to compete for the fifth spot in the rotation, owns a career 12-27 record and 5.16 ERA across 97 appearances.
Right-hander Jeff Samardzija and catcher Tyler Flowers remain the only arbitration eligible players remaining on the White Sox.
