Royals trade Giavotella to Angels for Broderick

Baseball's wild offseason continues.
The Kansas City Royals traded infielder Johnny Giavotella to the Los Angeles Angels for right-handed pitcher Brian Broderick, the clubs announced Friday.
Giavotella played in 12 games for the Royals in 2014 and had a .593 OPS. He has a career .612 OPS in four years and 125 games, all with Kansas City.
Broderick has spent the majority of his career in the minors, having pitched in 11 games in the majors with the Washington Nationals in 2011. He spent the 2014 season in the Independent League, and has a career 6.10 ERA in 169 2/3 innings in Triple-A.
