Report: Sandoval receives contract offer from Red Sox
Pablo Sandoval reportedly received a contract offer from the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday after numerous meetings with club officials throughout a brief two-day sojourn to Boston, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
Details of the club's offer remain unknown, but the 28-year-old third baseman was reportedly discussing five-year deals worth roughly $80-90 million with both the Red Sox and San Francisco Giants. The Giants have employed Sandoval for his entire seven-year career.
The Red Sox relied on a committee of third basemen last season - primarily Will Middlebrooks, Xander Bogaerts, and Brock Holt - but seem eager to acquire a full-time replacement in Sandoval, who managed a 111 OPS+ with 16 home runs and 3.0 WAR over 157 games in 2014.
