Report: Rangers expected to decline 2015 option on Alex Rios
Adam Hunger / USA TODAY Sports
The Texas Rangers are not expected to pick up their $13.5 million option on outfielder Alex Rios next season, reports Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish.
Rios hit .280 with four home runs and 54 RBIs in 131 games for the lowly Rangers - not the kind of stat line that warrants a $13.5 million salary.
The 33-year-old should generate some interest on the open market, however, from teams looking for veteran outfield help.
The buyout will only cost the Rangers $1 million.
