Tigers' Torii Hunter contemplating retirement: 'It's 100 percent serious, bro'

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter, 39 years old, told the media he's contemplating retirement after his season ended at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Division Series.

Hunter said he's tired, and he should be, after 18 years in the majors. He's a five-time All-Star and a nine-time Gold Glove winner. He'll talk to his wife and figure out his future, he added. He made $14 million this past season and is a free agent.

Hunter hit .286/.319/.446 in 142 games this season, with 17 home runs and 83 RBI. He added two hits, a run, and walked twice in three games versus Baltimore in the postseason.
